SAT preparation — FAQs

How many months do I need to prepare for the SAT?+

A common SAT study plan runs 3 months for target scores around 1400, or 6 months for 1500+. Shorter prep works if you're already strong in Math or Reading — the planner shows you exactly which sections have the most topics still in 'To Study' so you can see what's realistic from where you start.

What score do I need for top colleges?+

Ivy League and top 20 colleges typically see admitted students scoring 1500+. Most other competitive colleges admit in the 1350–1450 range. Your SAT study planner should be built around a specific target score — the higher the target, the more cards you'll need in the 'Practice' column, not just 'To Study'.

Can I self-study for the SAT without a prep course?+

Yes — and most students do. The core resources are free: Khan Academy's official SAT practice (partnered with College Board), the 4 official practice tests, and a structured study planner like this one. Paid prep courses mostly organize what you'd do anyway. A kanban board replaces their 'schedule'.

How is this SAT planner different from a spreadsheet?+

A spreadsheet tracks minutes. This SAT study planner tracks topics done and weak areas flagged. Dragging a card from 'In Progress' to 'Needs Review' because you got a question wrong is the exact feedback loop a score-oriented study plan needs — and a spreadsheet makes that friction-ful.

Is this planner for the digital SAT?+

Yes. The digital SAT (since March 2024) tests the same core Math and Reading & Writing skills as the paper SAT — just on a tablet with an adaptive format. Topic coverage is identical, so this planner works for both. Add practice-test cards for the official Bluebook app mocks.

Frequently asked questions

Is this study planner really free?+

Yes, 100% free. No credit card, no trial, no hidden limits on the planner. You can use it without even creating an account.

Which exams does Gini Planner support?+

JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET UG, CBSE Class 10 Board, and CBSE Class 12 Board. You can also start from a blank custom planner for school tests, university courses, or competitive exams we haven't templated yet.

Can I use this on my phone?+

Yes — the planner is mobile-first. Columns scroll horizontally and cards are tappable. We designed it assuming most students will check their plan on their phone.

How is this different from Notion or Trello?+

Gini Planner is built for Indian students preparing for JEE, NEET, and CBSE. Your board ships pre-loaded with the actual syllabus topics — you don't waste hours setting it up. Plus, when you sign up, each task can link straight into SolveGini's AI math solver and quiz practice.

Does it work for Hindi medium students?+

The interface is in English, but topic names follow the CBSE/NCERT syllabus so they map cleanly to Hindi medium textbooks. You can rename any card to whatever wording suits you.

Do I need to sign up to use it?+

No. Guest mode is fully functional — add tasks, drag cards, track progress. Your plan is saved in your browser. Sign up only when you want to access it from another device or sync with SolveGini's AI features.
